Building with Logs is hard work, but it is healthy, honest work. It is not beyond the strength of most people as long as it is at a comfortable pace which allows you, the builder, to appreciate the process.
A Log House is one of the most aesthetically satisfying places to live within. As the builder, you will remember the days you peeled and toiled, sweated and bled, got rained on and bug bit, until the roof was on. Then, you will scrub and clean, oil and polish all the surfaces, the knots and cat faces and this and that. It will be your piece of art. With a good foundation and roof design, it will long endure through generations of your family.
Our courses are designed to provide you with a working knowledge of the basic skills related to building with logs. These include: Forestry principles, Design considerations, Tool use, Layout procedures, Notching, Various forms of Joinery, Floor & Foundation styles, Wall & Roof assembly.
Classes are held to a size which allows the instructors to give individuals the attention needed to learn these procedures.
The Goal is to build a complete structure incorporating many of the methods used in the construction of Log Buildings.
Come and Join us for a week or two and expect to have fun learning a new skill.
